If you have ever seen a celebrity on TV, you may have noticed how flawless their smiles were. All of them seem to have the same gorgeous smile, and you find yourself wondering about your own teeth. If you’ve ever wanted a smile like that then you should think about getting dental veneers.

Dental veneers are a cosmetic dental treatment that can repair many imperfections in your teeth. Dental veneers are thin shells of porcelain or composite resin that are custom made to fit over teeth, providing a natural, attractive look. Chips, teeth that are slightly crooked, discolored, and minor cracks can all be repaired with dental veneers. They can make your teeth much more even and uniform, giving that Hollywood-perfect smile.

The procedure can be done is as little as one to three visits. Dr. Barron will match the shade of the veneer to the shade of your teeth. The porcelain of the veneer is not susceptible to tooth decay or to stains. You may wish to have a whitening treatment before getting veneers installed.

There are currently two varieties of veneers, porcelain, and resin. Both types of veneers can be fabricated by a dental technician in a laboratory and are bonded to the patient’s teeth in a dentist’s office. Dental veneers are bonded to the teeth with resin cement. Porcelain material is brittle; however, when it is firmly bonded to the tooth it can become very strong and durable. Your dentist can also complete a veneer in a single office visit using CAD/CAM technology where he or she develops it while you are in the dental chair.

Porcelain veneers can be custom made and fitted to your teeth and can take 2-3 visits to your dentist to finish installing. Resin veneers and made from dental bonding material, and can be applied in a single visit. While less durable than porcelain, they can be touched up after the initial treatment.
